Five settings that save your battery without ruining the game

Nothing kills a long session faster than a phone screaming for a charger. The good news is most games hide a few settings that make a real difference, and you rarely lose much visually.

First, the frame cap. Dropping from 60 to 30 fps roughly halves the GPU load in many games and is barely noticeable in slower titles. Strategy and simulation games lose nothing here.

Second, screen brightness, which is the single biggest battery drain on most phones. Turn off adaptive brightness and set it manually a touch lower than you think you need. Third, kill heavy effects like reflections and heat-haze if the game offers that.

Fourth, close background downloads, since in-game asset streaming can quietly hammer both battery and data. Fifth, enable any built-in battery-saver mode the game has. We tested these on a few titles recently and the combined effect added nearly an hour to a single charge.
